Edit: Finally got the damn thing to work, so I replaced the crappy picture with the scan!

Little drabble to go with this drawing:

Twilight has set in as Ziva David sits at the beach in Miami Florida.
She can’t help but feel a little sad on this joyous day. Jimmy and Breena… Breena had looked like a princess and Jimmy had looked completely high on love.

Not too long ago, she herself was contemplating this step. With a man she had met on this very beach, a man that turned out to be completely different than she had thought. Or was he? Had she not had this feeling before? But had she pushed it down because he was so nice? So courteous? So charming?

“Hey…”

Pulled from her thoughts, she looks up, “Hey Tony”
He doesn’t say anything else, just sits down beside her, peering over the ocean.
After a few moments of comfortable silence Tony asks;

“This where you and CI-Ray met?”

She sighs, “Yes…”

“I’m sorry Ziva.”

“No… it is okay. Looking back, even before I knew what he had done, I knew he was not the one. I cannot believe I even considered his proposal! It’s not me to act so, so….”

“Look, you want what any girl wants, her knight in shining armor, nothing wrong with that. And you’ll find that someday. I’m sure of that.”

She looks at him and he smiles at her. He smiles THAT smile, not the 1000 watt smile he uses to deliberately charm the socks off you, but that genuine smile. The one that gives her butterflies and makes her forget everything around her, the one he only seems to give to her…

He gets up and she is disappointed to see him leave.
To her surprise he holds out his hand to her and says: “Dance with me?”

She looks at his hand and back at his face. Yep, there it is again, THAT smile.
She smiles back and takes his hand. He pulls her to her feet and tentatively puts his hand on her waist. She smiles at him again and that’s all he needs to be brave enough to pull her close.

Slowly they sway to the barely audible music coming from the venue where the wedding party takes place.

“You look really beautiful Ziva.”, he whispers in her ear and she smiles in to his chest.

“Thank you, Tony.”

Someday, she muses, someday might just be a lot closer than imagined…
